Dr Ariel Rivera Aguerri

Dr. Rivera Aguerri has extensive experience in general, bariatric, and minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery. He is certified by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Costa Rica. He serves as the Director of the Surgery Department at Hospital CIMA in San José, Costa Rica, a general hospital equipped with state-of-the-art technology and accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI). With more than 2,000 laparoscopic procedures performed, Dr. Rivera Aguerri’s credentials are internationally recognized by the International College of Surgeons (FICS), the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), and the Latin American Association of Endoscopic Surgeons (ALACE). He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Due to his continuous professional development and extensive experience in minimally invasive bariatric surgery, he is considered one of the pioneers of these procedures in Costa Rica and Central America.
